Index Perlindungan (IP Degrees Of Protection)

Di dalam sektor industri elektrik, bahan-bahan dan peralatan elektrik yang dikeluarkan oleh pihak pengilang mestilah mematuhi spesifikasi dan peraturan Index Perlindungan (Index Protection)  yang ditetapkan oleh British Standard (Piawaian BS).

Nilai Index Perlindungan ini bermaksud tahap ketahananan dan perlindungan keselamatan sesuatu peralatan elektrik terhadap tindakbalas cuaca persekitaran dan cara penggunaannya.

Contohnya peralatan elektrik seperti lampu limpah yang dinyatakan mempunyai IP66 adalah bermaksud ianya direkabentuk dan dihasilkan untuk digunakan di kawasan yang berhabuk dan terdedah kepada hujan.

IP juga bermaksud rekabentuk perlindungan bahan sesuatu peralatan elektrik yang tertutup dari sentuhan langsung kepada pengguna.

Salah satu cara untuk melindungi sentuhan terus (direct contact) kepada pengallir elektrik (live parts) adalah dengan meletakkannya di dalam kotak pelindung (housing/enclosures) termasuk penghalang (barriers).

Ini adalah memastikan ianya mematuhi peraturan BS EN 60529 yang lebih dikenali sebagai kod Index of Protection (IP).

Oleh yang demikian, berikut disertakan Jadual Index Perlindungan dan penerangan nilai digit yang dipamerkan.

Sesuatu kod “IP” mengandungi perkataan “IP” dan dua digit. Digit yang pertama ialah antara 0…6 dan yang kedua ialah antara 0…9.

Ianya menyatakan aras perlindungan pengguna and aras perlindungan dan ketahanan sesuatu peralatan elektrik ke atas kesan hentakan bahan asing jenis keras (solid matter), termasuk habuk dan juga kesan pancutan air.

1 Protection against dripping water.
Water drops falling vertically must not have any harmful effects.
2 Protection against dripping water
When enclosure is inclined up to 15°. Water drops falling must not have any harmful effects when enclosure is inclined at any angle up to 15° either side of the vertical.
3 Protection against spray water.
Water striking the object at any angle up to 60° either side of the vertical must not have any harmful effects.
4 Protection against spray water.
Water splashing against the object from all directions must not have any harmful effects.
5 Protection against spray water.
A jet of water directed against the object from all directions must not have any harmful effects.
6 Protection against strong spray water.
A jet of water directed against the object from all directions must not have any harmful effects.
7 Protection against the effects of temporary flooding.
Water must not enter the enclosure in any harmful quantity when the enclosure is temporarily submerged in water under standard conditions of pressure and time.
8 Protection against the effects of permanent flooding.
Water must not enter the enclosure in any harmful quantity when the enclosure is permanently submerged in water under conditions to be agreed between manufacturer and user. These conditions must be more stringent than those for .7.
