Incandescent Light

This was, until recently the most common type of incandescent mains electricity bulb worldwide and produces a wonderful soft, warm and atmospheric light when dimmed.

Available in many wattages and cap styles and sizes, they are cheap to make, inexpensive to buy and commonly used in table lamps, floor lamps and pendants.

However, approximately 90 percent of the power consumed by an incandescent light bulb is emitted as heat rather than visible light and they need replacing after approximately 2,000 hours of use.
